New Delhi
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, while addressing a public meeting in Mysuru, Karnataka on Saturday, targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He questioned the Prime Minister’s silence over the ongoing ethnic violence in Manipur and said that PM Modi has visited 42 countries, but did not go to Manipur even once.

Central government surrounds Manipur violence
Kharge expressed concern over the violence and instability going on in Manipur for more than a year and said that the Prime Minister never considered it necessary to go there and share the grief of the people. He questioned, “I wandered in 42 countries, but did not think it necessary to go to Manipur. Isn’t Manipur a part of India?” It is worth noting that in the northeastern state of Manipur, ethnic violence continues from last year, on which the opposition is constantly questioning the inaction of the central government.

Accused of trying to change constitution
Kharge accused the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) of trying to change the Constitution. He said, “BJP and RSS want to change the constitution, but the people of the country will not let them do so.” He also appealed to the people to be alert to protect the constitution and democracy.

Congress vs BJP: Work vs. Things
Comparing the working style of Congress and BJP, the Congress President said, “People work in the Congress party, while people in Modi’s BJP only talk.” He claimed that the Congress always gives priority to public issues and keeps development at the center.
Allegations made against Karnataka government
Rejecting the allegations of financial crisis on the Congress government of Karnataka, Kharge said that this claim of the BJP is completely wrong. He said, “The BJP says that the Karnataka government has become pauper, but this is a sheer lie. The Siddaramaiah government is taking the state in a better direction.”
