The Meteorological Department says that from Thursday, monsoon rains will go to western UP. Heavy rains have been issued for Thursday in Saharanpur, Shamli, Muzaffarnagar and Bijnor in western UP. At the same time, there is a yellow alert of rain in 19 other districts. Also, there is a warning of lightning in 36 districts with thunderstorms.
On Wednesday, Maharajganj, Balrampur, Shravasti, Bahraich, Lakhimpur Kheri, Sitapur, Bareilly, Pilibhit, Shahjahanpur and surrounding areas of Terai received moderate and heavy rains somewhere. Siddharth Nagar recorded the highest 77 mm rainfall. Atul Kumar Singh, senior scientist of Zonal Mass Vigyan Kendra Amaisi, says that there are signs of good rains on August 14 and 15 in western UP after rains in Eastern UP and Terai on Wednesday.

Schools in Lucknow city were closed due to heavy rains late on Wednesday night. Chehalum’s holiday has already been declared on 14 August in government primary and secondary schools. In the order issued by Lucknow District Magistrate Visakh ji, all schools from 1st to 12th have been ordered to be closed. This order is said to apply on all types of boards.
