Washington
The Government of India has prepared a big plan to promote exports amidst US President Donald Trump imposing 25% tax (tariff) on Indian goods. The scheme will be around ₹ 20,000 crore and will be started from September 2025. The main objective of this new scheme is to identify Indian products in the world markets, to give loans without bail to small businessmen, make non-tariff rules easier (eg technical bottlenecks), strengthen ‘Brand India’ in the world and make every district an export center.
Big help for small traders
The government wants MSME (small and medium enterprises) to sell its goods in the world. For this, they will be able to get loans without any major bail, so that they can increase business. This scheme is being made in partnership with three ministries, Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of MSME and Ministry of Finance. According to a senior official, “This scheme will increase Indian exports not only in America, but in all countries. Its preparations will be completed in August and it will be applicable from September.”
‘Brand India’ will get international status
Just as Japan, Korea and Switzerland are identified for their high-quality products, India also wants ‘Brand India’ to get the same identity. Fieo Director General Ajay Sahay said that “If such a huge amount is used correctly, it will be very beneficial for the exporters of the country.” The US has announced that the US has announced that 25% of the tariffs from 7 August will be 25%. This may affect half of India’s annual exports of about $ 85 billion.
Trump’s threat and India’s retaliation
Trump wrote on his social media platform “Truth Social”: “India is buying huge amounts of oil from Russia and earning profits, while Russia is killing people in Ukraine. So now India will be more tariff.” India clearly stated that it would protect its economic interests and also stated that America and Europe themselves are buying oil from Russia. India has termed Trump’s allegations as Hypocrisy.
