The Yogi Adityanath government of Uttar Pradesh has taken a historic decision regarding agricultural laborers. The state government has increased the minimum wage rates of agricultural workers associated with agriculture, which will provide direct benefit to millions of families. Now agricultural workers will get a salary of Rs 252 per day or Rs 6552 monthly.
The special thing about this decision of the government is that now works like animal husbandry, beekeeping, mushroom production have also been kept in the category of agricultural labor. With this, such workers will also get security and benefits under minimum wages, which used to come in the unorganized sector earlier.
Payment of wages will no longer be limited to cash. The government has decided to pay wages in digital medium for the purpose of promoting digital transactions. This will make the transaction transparent and workers will get timely wages.
Now the workers will be given minimum wages per hour. This system is especially beneficial for those who work for a few hours instead of the whole day. The government has also clarified that workers who are already getting more wages than this new rate will continue to get their old benefits.
Rural economy and self -sufficiency will get strength
The government believes that this historic decision will strengthen the rural economy. The government has described it as not just an economic decision, but a step of respecting workers towards respect and self -reliance. These new wage rates will be applicable on all types of farming, horticulture, irrigation, crop harvesting and agricultural assistants across the state. It is believed that this decision will prove to be a milestone towards the welfare of the workers.
