New Delhi
Nearly 300 MPs from Opposition India Alliance led by Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi in the Lok Sabha are going to march on foot from Parliament House to Election Commission today against special intensive voter revision (SIR), disturbances in voter list and alleged rigging in elections. It will include MPs from 25 opposition parties. The great thing is that Delhi Police has not yet allowed this march. According to Delhi Police sources, no MP has sought such permission. In such a situation, now opposition MPs can be seen struggling on the road after Parliament. A senior official told Hindustan Times on the condition of anonymity that no formal request has been submitted for the permission of the police.
However, the Election Commission Secretariat has written a counter letter to Congress MP Jairam Ramesh at 12 noon today. This letter states that since the place is low and there is a problem of parking space, only a maximum of 30 people should attend the meeting to discuss. Meanwhile, Delhi Police has installed barricades outside the Election Commission.
March via transport building
Rahul Gandhi, the former president of the Congress, the chief constituent of the India alliance and the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, directly alleges that the Election Commission is stealing votes with the BJP and benefiting the BJP. After discussing the subject at the dinner held last week at Gandhi’s residence, it was decided that the MPs of the coalition parties would march from the Makar Gate of Parliament House to the Election Commission’s office from the Election Commission. Members of both houses of Parliament will participate in it.
Meeting of coalition leaders before March
The march is being held today (on Monday 11 August). Earlier, before the commencement of the proceedings of Parliament, there will be a meeting of the leaders of the alliance in the Leader of the Opposition in the Parliament House complex, in which there will be a discussion about march from Parliament to Election Commission. It is being told that the leaders of India alliance will also perform in the Parliament House complex like last week.
March will go out at around 11:30 pm
This march will include Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav, Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee. This march can be taken out at around 11:30 am. During this time, these MPs will oppose the alleged “vote theft” in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and the special intensive revision (SIR) of the voter list in the electoral state Bihar.
