SBI’s big change: new fees will be applicable to IMPS transactions from August 15

From 15 August 2025, IMPS transactions of small price up to Rs 25,000 will remain free for online users. A minor fee will be levied on transactions worth more than Rs 25,000 made through online mediums. Let us know what changes the State Bank of India has made in the structure of its IMPS fee. State Bank of India has announced to increase the transaction fee for retail customers on immediate payment service (IMPS). This change will be applicable from August 15, 2025. According to the bank, this increase will be applicable in different ways on online and branches. According to the bank, new fees will be applicable in the slab while there will be no change in others.

IMPS transactions up to Rs 25,000 for free
According to the bank, IMPS transactions of small price up to Rs 25,000 will be free for online users. A minor fee will be levied from August 15, 2025 on transactions worth more than Rs 25,000 made through online mediums. The account holders with salary will continue to get complete exemption on online IMPS transfer. IMPS is a new real tile payment service, which is available round the clock. This service is provided by the National Payment Corporation of India (NPCI). Through this, transactions of up to five lakh rupees can be done.
Which SBI customers will have to pay a fee for IMPS transactions?
In cases of online IMPS transactions, more than Rs 25,000 and Rs 2 will be payable on Rs 2 and GST, more than Rs 1,00,000 and Rs 2,00,000 on Rs 2,00,000 and Rs 6 on GST and Rs 2,00,000 and Rs 10 on Rs 5,00,000 and Rs 5,00,000 and GST will be payable. Earlier these transactions were free.

What fees for IMPS transactions on SBI branches?
SBI has not made any changes in the service fee related to IMPS transactions by visiting bank branches. The fee is Rs 2 and GST in terms of the lowest dignity, while the highest branch fee is Rs 20 and GST. Apart from this, IMPS fees will not be implemented in the cases of DSP (Defense Pay Package), PMSP (paramilitary salary package), ICGSP (Indian Coast Guard Pay Package), CGSP (Central Government Salary Package), PSP (Police Salary Package), and RSP (Railway Pay Package). Salary accounts are also excluded from the purview of IMPS fee.

What is the fee on IMPS transactions at Canara Bank?
Canara Bank has no fee on transactions less than Rs 1,000. 3 rupees + GST on transactions ranging from Rs 1,000 to Rs 10,000, Rs 5 on transactions ranging from Rs 10,000 to Rs 25,000 and Rs 8 on transactions ranging from Rs 25,000 to Rs 1,00,000. An amount ranging from Rs 1,00,000 to Rs 2,00,000 is charged Rs 15 + GST fee, while transactions ranging from Rs 2,00,000 to Rs 5,00,000 are charged Rs 20 + GST fee.

What is IMPS charge in PNB?
There is no fee on IMPS transactions up to Rs 1,000 for Punjab National Bank. For transactions up to Rs 1,001 and up to Rs 1,00,000, transaction through branch will be Rs 6 + GST and online transaction Rs 5 + GST fee. Customers will have to pay Rs 12 + GST on transactions through bank and Rs 10 for online transactions for transactions of more than Rs 1,00,000.
