Report claims: Cartoon show provoked Gaza’s children against Israel

According to the report, Tumorose Pioneers, a children’s TV program, broadcast in Palestine between 2007 and 2009, has been accused of inciting violence in the minds of children. In the TV show, innocent people were instigated for anti-Jewish violence and glorified ‘Shahadat’. According to the report, the show used to air every Friday on Al-Aksa TV owned by Hamas, in which other cartoon characters including Mickey Mouse-like Mickey Mouse gave the message of “killing”, “fighting for Islamic domination” and “freeing” to Jerusalem “.

‘Kill the Jews and eat’
According to the report, in an episode a rabbit character even says – “I will eliminate the Jews and eat them.” Farfur was later beaten to death by Israeli soldiers and replaced by new characters in the show.

Professor Mia Bloom of Georgia State University described it as “terrible propaganda” and “mental abuse of children”. According to him, such content deepened the perception among children that “every Israeli is bad and should be eliminated”. Bloom says that this ideological poison had also shaped the psychology of some fighters involved in the Hamas attack of 7 October 2023. He compared it to Taliban and ISIS brainwashing techniques.

Following international criticism, Palestinian Information Minister Mustafa Barguti requested the show to be suspended for reviews in 2009, but it aired at the scheduled time. Al-Aksa TV President Fathi Hammad had defended it at the time, saying, “It does not violate the rules in any way.” He also refused to make any changes in the program.
