The exercise to give the status of Nagar Panchayat to Itiathok town in Gonda district of UP has started. District Magistrate Neha Sharma has sent a letter to the Itiathok block to give the status of Nagar Panchayat to Etiathok and sought information. On the instructions of DM, there has been a boom in this relation in the block office. If sources are to be believed, then Gram Panchayat Haraiya Jhuman, Teliani Kanungo, Karuvapara, partial Parasarai and other gram panchayats can be included.
In this regard, Block Development Officer Vijay Kumar Mishra said that the report sought from the district level is being prepared. The process of making maps from Tehsil level has also started. BDO said that it will be included in the adjacent gram panchayats coming in its periphery so that the standard of the population can be fulfilled. The population should be 20 thousand to get the status of Nagar Panchayat. There was a demand for a long time for the formation of Itiathok Nagar Panchayat. After two years, the exercise has started to send a proposal to the government for the second time from the district level. The then DM Dr. Ujjwal Kumar sent a proposal to the government to give the status of Nagar Panchayat to Etiathok, Tarabganj, Dhanepur and Belsar.
Itiathok meets the standard of getting urban status
The town on Gonda-Balrampur road meets several standards to get Itiathok urban status. The town has railway station, development block office, veterinary hospital, CHC, Kotwali, Anganwadi office, Agriculture Department, two degree colleges, more than half a dozen inter colleges. The population here is also around 20 thousand.
