PM Modi’s statement: Government made many attempts to popularize Sanskrit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in his message on World Sanskrit Day on Saturday that his government has made several efforts to popularize this ancient language in the last decade. He said that Sanskrit is an eternal source of knowledge and expression and its effect can be seen in every field. Modi said that this is an opportunity to appreciate the efforts of all people trying to learn this language and make it popular. This day is celebrated every year on the occasion of ‘Shravan Purnima’.

The Prime Minister cited various measures such as the establishment of the Central Sanskrit University, the establishment of Sanskrit education centers, grant to scholars of this language and the introduction of a mission for digitization of ancient Sanskrit manuscripts keeping in front of the steps taken by his government. He said that countless students and researchers have benefited from this. Many influential ancient books including Hindu epics are written in Sanskrit. But Sanskrit has now become such a language which has become limited to religious works on a large scale.
