The tension between the US and Russia is once again at the peak. The rhetoric on social media between US President Donald Trump and former Russian President and Vice President of the current National Security Council Dimitri Medvedev has now reached the deployment of nuclear submarine. The issue is not just about negotiation on Ukraine war, but now it is becoming a direct conflict about the individual rivalry of the two leaders and the area of power.

Trump’s ultimatum and Medvedev’s resentment
Donald Trump warned Russia that the US would impose strict economic sanctions if there is no ceasefire with Ukraine by 8 August. Trump said that Russia will now be given not 50, but only 10 to 12 days. Dimitri Medvedev reacted sharply to this. He wrote on X (East Twitter): “Trump is playing an ultimatum game with Russia. He should remember two things- Russia is neither Israel nor Iran. Every new ultimatum is a threat and another step towards war.” Medvedev further warned that this dispute is becoming a direct conflict between the US and Russia, not of Russia-Ukraine. He advised Trump not to walk on the path of ‘Sleepi Joe’ (Joe Biden’s ridiculous name).
Trump’s nuclear warning
Trump also reacted strongly in response. He said that “tell Medvedev, who is a failed former President of Russia and still considers himself the President, that he is going into a dangerous zone.” After this, Trump announced on 1 August that he has ordered to deploy two nuclear submarines to strategic places. He said that the “silly statements” of Medvedev can worsen the situation, and it can bring serious consequences by moving beyond the battle of words.
