JD(U) Leader Predicts NDA’s Success in Upcoming Elections

On the eve of the assembly election results, Neeraj Kumar, a prominent figure in the Janata Dal (United), emphasized that the public sentiment is clear: they will not hand over power to Tejashwi Yadav, the leader of the Rashtriya Janata Dal and the Mahagathbandhan’s candidate for Chief Minister. Speaking to a news agency, the former Bihar minister expressed confidence that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) would secure a significant victory. Kumar noted that the Election Commission has set the date for vote counting. He reiterated, ‘The people’s mood is evident: they will not entrust power to Tejashwi Yadav. Nitish Kumar and the NDA will achieve a resounding victory. We will celebrate our win and uphold Bihar’s pride.

Posters and Political Dynamics in Bihar

A poster displayed outside the JD(U) office in Patna by former minister Ranjit Sinha portrays Chief Minister Nitish Kumar as a protector of marginalized communities, declaring ‘Tiger Zinda Hai.’ This reflects the party workers’ desire to see Kumar serve as Bihar’s Chief Minister for a fourth term. The opposition Mahagathbandhan has faced criticism for delaying the announcement of their Chief Ministerial candidate for the 2025 Bihar assembly elections. Tejashwi Yadav has repeatedly claimed, referencing statements from Union Minister Amit Shah, that if the NDA comes to power, Nitish Kumar will not be the Chief Minister.

Tejashwi Yadav’s Claims and NDA’s Position

On October 15, Tejashwi asserted that the JD(U) is not under Nitish Kumar’s control but rather under leaders brought in by the BJP. However, several NDA leaders, including those from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), have attempted to clarify the situation by declaring Nitish Kumar as their leader. During the election campaign in Bihar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his support for Nitish Kumar as the NDA’s leader. Amit Shah also assured that there would be no vacancy for the Chief Minister’s position in Bihar, indicating that Nitish Kumar is crucial for maintaining power.

Clarifications from BJP Leaders

Recently, Union Minister and Bihar BJP in-charge Dharmendra Pradhan made it clear that there is no confusion regarding Nitish Kumar being the NDA’s face for the Chief Minister position. In an interview, Pradhan stated, ‘The Prime Minister has been very clear. He has already mentioned that there is no vacancy. Why should we name anyone else? His name is Nitish Kumar. Where is the confusion? We have no confusion. Our Chief Ministerial face is Nitish Kumar.
