In July, Israeli military spokesperson Avichay Adrai posted a video on social media, accusing Al-Sherif of being a member of Hamas’s armed branch.

At the same time, Al Jazeera Media Network rejected the claim and accused Israel of launching a ‘campaign to abolish’ against journalists.

Al Jazira said, “The network strongly condemns it. Since the beginning of the ongoing Israeli war on Gaza, there is a continuous effort against our employees. The network considers this provocation to be a dangerous attempt to justify its journalists in the area.”

The Journalists’ Security Committee (CPJ) reacted to Adrai’s remarks last month and called for the security of Al-Sherif from the international community. CPJ’s Regional Director Sarah Kudah said in a statement, “This is not the first time, when Al-Sharif is targeted by the Israeli army, but now his life is serious.”
