New Delhi

This is the year 2023. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav had also announced to run hydrogen trains in India in Rajya Sabha. It has been only two years since and the Railways has prepared its first hydrogen train with country resources. It is named Namo Green Rail. The Railways’ Integral Coach Factory or ICF in Chennai, ie, on Sunday night, it has been sent to the Annanagar yard next to the factory. Now it will have an oceans or oscillation lesion trial under the supervision of Railway’s Research Arm RDSO.

How the train is made
A senior official associated with this project said that this train has a total of 10 coaches, including two engines. The arrangement of engines has been made forward and back. This train is named ‘Namo Green Rail’. ICF has designed this train to run at a speed of 110 kmph. Now in the field trial, you will know that the train stands at some speed. The engine of this train has ‘Namo Green Rail’ written. Meaning that hydrogen train will be known by this name.

Diesel engine was replaced in hydrogen engine
For this project of hydrogen train, the Railways has converted two diesel engines of its 1600 horsepower into a hydrogen engine of 1200 horsepower. This work has been done in ICF, Chennai. In these engines, fueling infrastructure has been prepared in Jind, Haryana for hydrogen fueling. There is also a system of storage of about 3,000 kg hydrogen. About 1200 passengers will be able to travel in this train at a time.

Now there will be an ocean trial
Sources said that Namo Green Rail will be sent to Northern Railway from Annanagar Yard in Chennai. There, with the help of RDSO, it will be tried an oscillation between Jind and Sonipat in Haryana. During this trial, the number of weight will be run in the train as the passengers of weight will climb it. To add weight, a weight of 50-50 kg has been made by adding metal powder to the plastic peep. It is noteworthy that in the railway operation, hydrogen is considered to be the cleanest fuel of the available fuel. This causes zero emission. Whereas the burn of fossil fuel leads to the emission of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, which is fatal to the atmosphere.

Train will run from hydrogen cell
In this ten, a power car that is built forward and back will have the ability to store 220 kg of hydrogen. The hydrogen cell in these power cars will be filled at pressure 350 times in specially designed cylinders. You know that this train generates electricity from hydrogen and oxygen reaction. It produces only water and energy, which makes it very clean and pollution-free for the environment.

Where and where hydrogen train runs in the world
Germany is the first country around the world, where hydrogen train has run. This has happened there only in 2022. Hydrogen train is being run for commercial service there. Germany’s hydrogen train is built by Alstom. A year later, France also moved towards the hydrogen train. Significantly, Alstom’s headquarters are in France.
