There is great news for Indians who dream of permanent residence (PR) in Canada. Prime Minister Carney’s Sarkar is preparing to add three new categories to the express entry system, which may make it easier for professionals like senior managers, researchers, scientific and skilled military workers **. Emigration, Refugee and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has sought reactions from the public. This scheme can be applicable from 2026.
Benefits of new category
Leadership category: Goal to increase digital transformation, productivity and competition by attracting senior managers.
Research and Innovation: Researchers and scientists have priority, so that scientific research and innovation leads to speed to economic growth.
Skilled military personnel: Marking the workforce diverse and strengthening by including military professionals with security and special skills.
Express entry is the main immigration management system of Canada, which decides which foreign nationals will get an opportunity to apply for PR. IRCC believes that these new categories will increase Canada’s economic prosperity, innovation capacity and global competitiveness. This window for public consultation is open till 3 September 2025. After this, the government will decide when and how to implement the new category.
