Gadkari’s open challenge
Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari attended a summit organized by Business Today on Friday. Here, during an interview, he said that there is no truth in the logic of the mileage of vehicles by adding 20% ethanol in petrol (called E20). Along with this, he said that there is no discussion on this. I do not know whether I should say this politically or not, but it seems that the petroleum lobby is manipulating it. You can show me a single vehicle in the world that has caused problems due to E20 petrol! I give an open challenge. There is absolutely no problem with E20.
Gadkari further said that the use of locally produced ethanol helps reduce India’s import bill and also reduces pollution. The price of maize has increased from Rs 1,200 per quintal to Rs 2,600, this is all because it is producing ethanol. This has increased the area under Mecca in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh by three times. Due to this, the income of farmers is increasing.

The Ministry of Petroleum has said this
Prior to this open challenge of Nitin Gadkari, the Petroleum Ministry has told about the impact on mileage due to ethanol in petrol. It has been said on behalf of the Ministry of Petroleum that this fuel does not cause any major loss or decrease in performance. However, he admitted that mileage in new cars may be reduced by up to 2 percent and old cars, which may require updated parts. A post was also posted on social media on Monday by the ministry, which told that it can be handled with regular maintenance.
In this post, the Ministry of Petroleum had said that the use of E20 petrol may require small updates such as rubber parts or gaskets after 20,000 to 30,000 km, which are cheap and are usually done during regular servicing.
