Farmer leaders and farmers from across the country have come united in Delhi to appreciate a “historic and courageous” decision of the Government of India. This decision has been taken to protect Indian agriculture and dairy markets, despite foreign pressure, especially US pressure. In this meeting, leaders of more than a dozen farmer organizations praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s move.
Farmer leaders expressed gratitude
On this occasion, National President of Bharatiya Kisan Chaudhary Charan Singh Sangathan Dharmendra Chaudhary said, “Prime Minister Modi has made a firm announcement in the interest of farmers, cattle rearers and fishermen. This decision provides relief to millions and makes rural India self -sufficient.” Virendra Lohan of the Youth Progressive Farmers Association of Chhattisgarh said, “This bold decision to not enter our agriculture and dairy markets to American companies is echoing in every farm, village and gaushala.” Another prominent farmer leader Dharmendra Malik urged the government to remain firm on this policy, saying, “We thank the Prime Minister and the Minister of Agriculture and appeal that he stays on this policy. We will always stand with you.”
Agriculture Minister made big announcements
Addressing the farmers, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan said that the government will bring a new law to curb fake manure, seeds and pesticides. He reiterated the Prime Minister’s commitment to the welfare of farmers and rural empowerment. Chauhan also informed that digital insurance payments have been distributed to the farmers of Rajasthan under the Pradhan Mantri Crop Insurance Scheme. Praising Prime Minister Modi’s nationalist resolution, he described the decision to cancel the Indus Water Treaty as another example of decisive leadership.
