On the night of 6 and 7 May, Indian attacks targeted nine terrorist bases in Pakistan and POJK. After this, New Delhi informed the DGMO of Islamabad that its mission was completed. However, Pakistan’s leadership spoke of strong retaliation. The satellite photographs of Karachi and Gwadar ports analyzed by the Open-source Intelligence (Osint) team show that Pakistan’s Navy’s stance during Operation Sindoor was defensive.

At the peak of the conflict, the warships of the Pak Navy (PN) were removed from the naval warehouse in Karachi and brought to commercial terminals, as in satellite photographs. Meanwhile, other warships were seen taking shelter at the western port of Gwadar, which is just 100 km from the Iran border, rather than moving towards India.

The satellite picture of the Karachi port of May 8 suggests that the Pak Navy warships stood on the commercial port and container terminal.

Top military experts have questioned the preparations for the Pakistan Navy during tension. Retired Vice Admiral S.C. Suresh Bangara, who was the former commander-in-chief of the Southern Navy Command and was involved in the 1971 adventure attack on the Karachi port. He said that since our terrorist structure was attacked on May 7 and the three armies of Pakistan should have been fully alert, yet their advanced warships appear at the port to show their less operational preparations.

He further pointed to a pattern, in which Pak Navy ships stand on commercial terminals and take cover of commercial aircraft during the operation. Bringing them into a commercial port area is an attempt to avoid missile attacks. He told India Today that flying his military aircraft near commercial flights shows a tendency to sacrifice his civil resources.

Pakistani warship take shelter near Iran border

Just six months before Operation Sindoor, the Navy of Pakistan claimed that it has added a new weapon-‘Swadeshi-developed’ p282 ship-launch ballistic missile. Its range was stated to be 350 km. It promised ‘high accuracy’ attacks. The test was shown in a military promotional video, in which Chinese-made Zulfikar-Class (F-22p) Frigate fired missiles.

But when Operation Sindoor started in May 2025, the situation looked different. Professional photographs from the space company Maxu Technologies suggest that half of its Zulfikar-Class Fringet and other warships stood in Gwadar in the West, which is just 100 km from Iran’s border.

The Gwadar port, called the jewel of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, was recently converted into a temporary naval shelter site. During Operation Sindoor, satellite photographs suggest that its container storage areas were empty till May 10, but there was a crowd of military ships on the dock. This included two Zulfikar-Class Friget, two big Tugril-Class Frigate, the Navy’s only American-made Oliver Hazard Perry-Class Frigate, and two sea patrol ships.

Retired Vice Admiral Bangara said, “Gwadar, where there were no commercial activities, it was wrong to keep the steps of the front row, because they were easily seen. It seems that his only strength in the sea was his submarines.

India’s strength and Pakistan’s pressure

Intel labs’s tongue researcher Demian Simon told, “During Operation Sindoor, India’s first indigenous aircraft carrier INS Vikrant deployed his first warship, which was exposed by the Pak Navy in the Arabian Sea. This led to the pressure of New Delhi. The preparation of a possible attack on Karachi, Pakistan, dispelled its navy and took the ships to the civil doc.

Warships on business terminals of Karachi

Earlier, Karachi’s naval warehouses were unusually empty, while warships in May 8 satellite photographs were seen standing on commercial cargo terminals. Partially covered with clouds, at least four Pakistani Navy (PN) ships appeared near business ports and container terminals. This included PNS Almagir, a Babur-Class Coretwatt, and a Demon Offshore Petrol Vel (OPV), standing near the cargo ship, where containers were loaded-unloaded. Another Navy was on the frigate container terminal, not on the naval warehouse.

Bangara said, “The Pak Navy has no special role in the Army-Dhan structureIndia made a spectacular plan for joint operation and achieved all the goals of Operation Sindoor. We made it clear that we are ready for punitive retaliation, which ended the operation without a single missile from the sea. The powerful attack of our Navy could destroy their marine resources, such as PAF’s air conditions on 10 August. Joint operations save ammunition to prolong war. Remember, the operation vermilion has just stopped.

New use of gwadar

Simon focused on changes in the use of Gwadar. “This pressure came when many boats of Pakistan’s submarine branch were out for repair, which reduced the maritime fear. Gwadar under this increasing pressure – a long -struggling business port naval became the basis for retreat. In its 600 -meter dock, a warship and offshore tankers gave Islamabad a strong base away from Karachi.

India preparations

Indian Navy had earlier said that if needed If lying, Karachi is ready to attack. Vice Admiral AN in Joint Media Briefing in May 2025. Pramod had said that our forces were in a strong position in the Arabian Sea and there was complete preparation to attack the sea and the ground, Karachi on time.
