Election Commission increased honorarium of polling officers and employees

The Election Commission has announced an increase in honorarium of presiding officers, polling officers, counting personnel, micro observers and other election personnel. The Commission has taken this major step to reward the service of officers and employees who played an important role during the election.

Officers and employees of several departments of the Central and State Government, members of Public Authority, employees of public undertakings etc. are involved in the election work. During the election, these workers work for several consecutive hours for several months so that voters can exercise their rights and choose the representative of their choice.

The Commission said that earlier the honorarium was increased for the last time between 2014 and 2016, which has now been implemented by improving the new rates. The main points of the major increase in honorarium are as follows:

Presiding Officer and Counting Supervisor: Now they will get 500 rupees or 2 thousand rupees for a lump sum honorarium for daily or its part. Earlier it was 350 rupees.

Polling Officer: Now Rs. 1600 for Rs 400 per day or its share, which was earlier 250 rupees.

Counting Assistant: Rs 450 per day or Rs 1350 for its share, first Rs 250.

Class-4 employees (for various duties): Now Rs 350 per day or Rs 1400 for its share, first 200 rupees.

Class-4 employees of call center / control room: 1000 rupees outright, first 200 rupees per day.

Class I/II employee of video monitoring team, media monitoring committee, flying squad etc. At the same time, the employee of Class III 2 thousand rupees lump sum (first 1000 rupees)

Micro Observer: 2000 rupees lump sum, first 1000 rupees.

Police, home guards, forest guards, NCC cadets, volunteers etc. posted at the polling place/counting center will now get Rs 500 per day for food/refreshment. Earlier 150 rupees were available.

The Deputy District Election Officer will now be paid equal to one month’s basic salary of the employee concerned, while no salary was given earlier.

The Gazetted officer of CAPF will get 4 thousand rupees for 15 days or less, 2 thousand rupees per week for more than 15 days. (First Rs 2500 and Rs 1250 respectively). 3000 rupees 15 days for subordinate officer (Inspector, Sub-Inspector etc.), 1500 rupees per week more than 15 days (first 2000 and 1000 rupees). At the same time, for other rank (head constable, constable etc.) for Rs 2500 for 15 days, Rs 1250 per week for more than 15 days.

Assistant Expenditure Supervisor / Sector Officer / Sector Police Officer: Now payment will be made for full -time election duty on Rs 10,000 or a promature basis, which was earlier Rs 7,500.
