Senior Congress leader and former Rajya Sabha MP BK Hariprasad has targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi, calling the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) a “Indian Taliban”. This statement of Hariprasad has come at that time, on August 15, the Prime Minister appreciated the RSS in his address from the Red Fort on the occasion of Independence Day. Talking to news agency ANI, Hariprasad said, “RSS is trying to disturb peace in the country. I will only say that RSS is the Indian Taliban and Prime Minister is praising him from the Red Fort.”
Hariprasad also questioned RSS’s financial transparency in Bengaluru. He said, “Was there any Sanghi attended the freedom struggle? It is a matter of shame that RSS is not a registered organization. We do not know where they get funds. If any NGO in the country wants to work, then he has to register according to the constitution.”
The Congress leader also accused BJP and RSS about history. He said that the then Chief Minister of Bengal A.K. Fazlul Haq had made the first proposal for partition and Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, the founder of the Jana Sangh, was also in favor of him. He said, “BJP and RSS are the master to distort history. They are trying to blame the Congress, while Jinnah and Savarkar were in favor of a separate country demand.”
This statement came at a time when Prime Minister Modi described RSS as the “world’s largest NGO” and said that the organization has contributed more than a century to nation building. The Prime Minister appreciated the life surrender for the welfare of Bharati, the mother of volunteers.
