Cabinet sanctions ₹ 12,060 crore for Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala scheme

The Union Cabinet approved a package of Rs 52,667 crore during an important meeting on Friday. In which special emphasis has been laid on LPG, education, infrastructure and development of the North Eastern region.

Under this package, a provision of Rs 12,060 crore has been made to strengthen the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala scheme. Apart from this, 30,000 crore rupees have been allocated to make domestic LPG cheaper. 4,200 crore has been allocated to strengthen the infrastructure of technical institutes in the education sector.

In the cabinet meeting, a special focus on the northeastern states, a special development package of Rs 4,250 crore has been approved for Assam and Tripura. To improve road connectivity in South India, a provision of Rs 2,157 crore has been made for construction and development of Markkanam-Puducherry Four-Len Highway. ₹ 4,200 crore has been sanctioned to improve the infrastructure of technical education institutions. This will provide better training and employment opportunities to the youth. Apart from this, a special development package of ₹ 4,250 crore has also been approved for Assam and Tripura. ₹ 2,157 crore has been sanctioned for 4-lane highway between Markanam-Puducherry.

Vaishnav said that subsidy will also be given to the beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana in 2025-26, for which ₹ 12,060 crore has been sanctioned. He said that the PM Ujjwala scheme has been appreciated globally for inclusive development (development for all). Its purpose is to change people’s lives.

A special development package of Rs 4,250 crore has been approved for Assam and Tripura, making special focus on the northeastern states in the cabinet meeting. At the same time, a provision of Rs 2,157 crore has been made for the construction and development of the Markankam-Puducherry Four-Len Highway to improve road connectivity in South India.

In the meeting, three public sector oil marketing companies- Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) (HPCL) will approve a compensation of 30000 crores for compensation for losses on domestic LPG sales. Will be done in installments.

Domestic LPG cylinders are made available to consumers by these public sector companies at controlled prices. During the year 2024-25, the prices of LPG in the international market remained at a high level, but the government kept them stable for not putting prices on consumers. Because of this, IOCL, BPCL and HPCL suffered heavy financial losses. Despite this, these companies continued the supply of domestic LPG across the country without interruption.

The government believes that this compensation will help oil marketing companies meet the required requirements like procurement of crude oil and LPG, loan repayment and capital expenditure. This will ensure uninterrupted supply of cylinders to homes across the country.

The Railway Minister informed that it has been decided in the meeting that public sector oil companies will be given compensation of ₹ 30,000 crore to compensate the domestic LPG. At the same time, the Merite Scheme will be given ₹ 4,200 crore help to improve technical education.

Apart from this, 4 new projects have been approved under the current scheme of special development package for Assam and Tripura, which will cost a total of ₹ 4,250 crore. At the same time, a 46 km long four -lane highway will be built between Markanam -Puducherry in Tamil Nadu, which will cost ₹ 2,157 crore.

16 July- Prime Minister approved Dhan-Dhanya Krishi Yojana

The Union Cabinet has approved the Prime Minister Dhan-Dhanya Krishi Yojana in a meeting held on 16 July. During the budget on 1 February 2025, the scheme was announced by Vatta Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.

The plan will start from 2025-26 and run for the next 6 years. Under this, special facilities will be provided to farmers of 100 low agricultural production districts of the country. It has been targeted to give benefits to 1.7 crore farmers.

Its purpose is to give more production, crop diversity, sustainable farming, modern storage and affordable loan to every farmer.

Cabinet also approves 2 big projects

The government has given a special fund of Rs 20,000 crore to the National Infrastructure and Project Corporation (NIPC) to give more strength. This fund will be used for investment in renewable energy projects such as solar, wind, green hydrogen.
National Clean Investment Limited (NCIL) will get new capital of Rs 7,000 crore for clean technology and innovative storage. This will invest in new technology, innovative energy storage, battery, smart grids.
