BJP’s Strong Opposition to Congress Celebration
Shimla – As the Congress government in Himachal Pradesh approaches its three-year milestone, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has launched a fierce critique, questioning the legitimacy of the celebration and accusing the ruling party of significant failures and mismanagement.
Trilok Jamwal, a senior BJP spokesperson and MLA, expressed his dissatisfaction, stating, “What are they celebrating? This government has only added to the public’s economic burdens and administrative confusion over the past three years.” He pointed to issues such as corruption, lack of transparency, inflation, unfulfilled promises, and misleading assurances.
Jamwal further asserted that contractors remain unpaid for their completed projects, pensions have become contentious, and the dearness allowance (DA) exists merely on paper. “For the youth, jobs are a distant hope, and 28 lakh women are still awaiting their promised ₹1500,” he remarked. He also accused the government of providing political cover for land and liquor mafias, highlighting a rising crime rate as evidence of administrative failure.
Randhir Sharma, the BJP’s state media in-charge, supported these claims, stating that the Congress government lacks the moral authority to celebrate. “There are no achievements that benefit the public to justify this event. The government has not met its electoral promises,” Sharma said.
He warned that the state is approaching financial disaster, with a debt of ₹1 lakh crorestruggling to pay salaries and pensions punctually. Sharma noted that road repairs are being financed through central schemes like PMGSY and CRF, while the state budget remains elusive. He criticized the delays in releasing MLA funds and cuts to discretionary grants.
Sharma accused the government of misusing central funds intended for drinking water projects and failing to provide sufficient disaster relief. “More than 2,000 institutions have been closed. No new initiatives have been introduced. Instead of advancement, the state has regressed,” he stated.
In conclusion, BJP leaders asserted that the Congress government’s three-year term has been characterized by disappointment, economic hardship, and administrative shortcomingsdeeming any celebration of such a record as unwarranted.
