Basic Education Minister Sandeep Singh responded to the attacks on issues like nomination of students in the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly, appointment of teachers, school merger, education recruitment and admission of children in primary schools to 4 years. He said that the opposition has completely politicized the manner by completely politicizing the merger system, while the truth is that the government has done historical works to bring the level of education to new heights.
The minister told in the House that the number of students enrolled in council schools is more than about 1.48 crore. The total number of teachers, teachers and instructors in council schools is more than 6.28 lakhs.
He informed that 1 crore 4 lakh 93 thousand 389 children are enrolled in primary schools. 3,38,590 teachers and 1,43,450 Shikshamitra are appointed to teach them, while in upper primary schools, 1,20,860 teachers and 25,223 instructors are deployed in upper primary schools to teach 43,01,483 children. The ratio of 30: 1 in primary education and 35: 1 in upper primary education is being complied with.
He clarified that two teachers and one Shikshamitra would be deployed in schools with up to 50 enrollment after pairing. The student-teacher ratio is completely balanced and the action to maintain it will continue.
Rejecting the allegations of school closure, the minister said that the government has not decided to close a single school. All the council schools are being run under the Basic Education Department as the same.
On the question of the admission age of children 4 years, he bluntly said that this is not possible; Because under the provisions of RTE, uniform system is applicable across the country. There is already a system of education and nutrition in Anganwadi for children aged 3 to 6 years.
On the merger, the minister said that only schools with a radius of 1 km and less than 50 students have been paired. The beverage schools have been included in resource -based schools, so that children get better convenience and closest school. Pre-primary i.e. play school and nursery classes are being conducted in vacant schools in collaboration with ICDS department. So far, more than 3000 schools are working closely with ICDs and for them 19,484 ACCE has been appointed on contract.
The minister retaliated at the opposition and said that no previous government did as much work as the government did from 2017 to 2025. More than 27 lakh children have been enrolled this year. At the time of SP government, 3.45 crore children were away from education, while the current government has run a campaign to take the children out of the house to school.
He said that model composite schools are being built to improve the standard of education. Each school will be constructed at a cost of 30 crores and two schools will be built in each district. He said that our Yogi government is determined to take the quality of education to a height.
