Air India will change its 26 old Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft electronic devices and other important parts to reduce the problems related to operations and install new devices and other parts. The airline company of Tata Group shared this information on Sunday. Let us tell you that in recent times, the airline company has faced problems related to operations in some of its aircrafts including Dreamliner.
Renovation of Air India Dreamliner begins
Air India’s Dreamliner aircraft was examined, including an investigation into the fuel switch. Air India has earlier started renovation of ‘Legacy Dreamliner’, which was sent in July 2025 to a plant in Boeing in Victorville, California. Air India said in a statement, “A second aircraft is going to leave for the same plant in October 2025 and both are expected to return to service in December 2025.”
Air India flight fell victim to an accident on 12 June
The same year, Air India flight from Ahmedabad to London on June 12 crashed a few minutes after the take-off. 241 out of 242 passengers and crew members were killed in this horrific accident. The aircraft collided with a building outside the airport, due to which many people present in the building lost their lives in this accident. Since that accident, Air India accelerated its aircraft investigation and also took a minor problem seriously. The company did not compromise with any problems of its aircraft, due to which they had to cancel many flights.
All international flight service will start from October 1
Air India had reduced its international flights on a large scale after the accident. However, the company is now going to start its international service once again. Air India had told on 6 August that it would start all its international flight service once again from 1 October.
The company had said that the work is part of a large program of US $ 400 million (about Rs 3,340 crore), which is being emphasized on increasing the aircraft modern and more reliable.
During this period, 7 out of 26 Dreamliner will also have heavy servicing of aircraft. This will improve timely operation and safety in long distance international flights.
According to the company, avionics is being updated in the ongoing ‘Relibility Intensment Program’ for Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner and the necessary parts are being replaced, so that the aircraft stand on the standards of new rules.
July 13- DGCA ordered an inquiry into fuel control switch of Boeing aircraft
On July 13, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) ordered that the fuel control switch of all Boeing aircraft registered in India would be tested. It said that the investigation should be completed by 21 July.
DGCA advised all the airline operators of Boeing to submit the report after the investigation was completed. The decision has been taken after the initial investigation report of Ahmedabad Plain Crash came out, this report was released by the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) on 12 July.
The report said that the fuel control switches, run cutoffs and then turned back to run during the Ahmedabad plane crash had stopped getting fuel. Some foreign airlines, including Etihad, have already started investigating their dreamliners.

In January 2013, two new Dreamliner 787-8 aircraft were included in the fleet of two airline companies in Japan. The lithium ion (Li-ion) battery in these caught fire. One aircraft caught fire when he was standing in parking at Boston’s airport, while the other had flew Dreamliner. Due to the fire, his emergency landing had to be done.
Effect: After this, the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) banned flights of all Dreamliner aircraft worldwide for 3 months. Boeing improved his battery system and its insulation, the way of protecting the battery from the engine heat.
Dispute-2: In body joints Gap complaint, Boeing obeys mistake
2020 to 2022 During the Dreamliner, there were reports of manufacturing defects several times. Actually, Dreamliner is a wide-body passenger plane. Its parts are different, which are added later. During this period, many aircrafts received more gaps in the joint parts of the body. The parts of the carbon-fiber used in the body were also not properly added. The body’s inclination was also not good.
Effect: 2020 to 2022 During the time Boeing stopped the delivery of Dreamliner to Airlines. The FAA increased the surveillance and approved the aircraft delivery to several other companies. Boeing also admitted that there were many disturbances in Dreamliner’s manufacturing.
Dispute-3: Aircraft The way of adding parts changed, the risk of breaking in the air
April 2024 A whistleblower working in Boeing claimed that some parts of the Dreamliner 787 body are not connected properly and they could break between during the flights. This was a whistleblower engineer Sam Saleh, who had been working in Boeing for more than ten years.
Sam gave New York Times in an interview It was claimed that this has caused problems due to changes in the way many parts of the aircraft connect together. Flams of aircraft torso come from different companies. They do not fit properly when joined together.
Impact: Following these allegations, Boeing spokesman Paul Lewis had admitted that there had been changes in manufacturing manufacturing, but this has not affected the aircraft strengthening and his life. Boeing also said that he is investigating the infrastructure of the aircraft. However, in another statement later Boeing rejected Sam’s claims and described Dreamliner 787 as completely safe.
