Uttar Pradesh will become leather and footwear industry global hub

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken a big step towards making the state a global center of leather and footwear industry and implemented Uttar Pradesh Footwear, Leather and Non Leather Development Area Policy 2025. The aim of the new policy is not only providing easy facilities to the industries, but also providing employment to millions of youth and also to identify the products of the state in the international market.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath aims to make Uttar Pradesh not only the leather and footwear industry hub of the world in the coming years. The new policy will provide new heights to industrial investment, employment and global identity in the state.

Land availability and quick allocation
Under the policy, the government will identify large plots and develop land banks and dedicated leather parks. These will provide plug-end-play facilities, waste treatment plants and modern infrastructure. The process of land allocation will be from the single window system, which will provide land on priority to mega anchor units and clusters.

Promotion of construction and equipment industry
Taking advantage of the strong MSME network of Uttar Pradesh, the government will also support footwear and leather-non-leather products as well as their equipment and machinery-making units.

Skill development and employment
Local youth will be made skillful through modern training centers and special courses. There will be special attention to providing employment opportunities to women and disabled. Industry-focused courses will be prepared in collaboration with educational institutions.

R&D and Center of Excellence
The government will set up at least 10 Center of Excellence and Product Development Centers to encourage innovation in footwear and leather design, automation and smart technology. Entrepreneurs will also be assisted to gain patent and intellectual property rights.

Global Visibility and Sustainability
To promote exports, grant on transportation costs, participation in global exhibitions and financial assistance on international certification. Also, sustainable manufacturing based on waste management, pollution control and use of renewable energy will be encouraged.

(1) Land bank and leather park-Leather parks with plug-end-play facilities will be prepared by marking large plots.

(2) Quick land allocation – Priority to mega anchor units and clusters from single window system.

(4) Skill Development and Employment-Modern Training Center, Industry-Centenary Course, Focus on women and disabled.

(6) Global Visibility – Grants on exports, participation in global fairs and cooperation in international certification.

(7) Sustainability – Promotion of pollution control, renewable energy and waste management techniques.
