Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah reached Chasoti village of Kishtwar district today. Here he reviewed the damage caused by floods and assessed the situation of relief work. The Chief Minister took briefing from the Indian Army personnel during this period and also made a virtual tour of the affected areas with the help of virtual reality headset.

“As soon as he reached Chasoti village, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah first held a meeting with the local administration and security forces. During this time he took detailed information from the NDRF, SDRF, police and Indian Army teams about the ongoing search and rescue operations in flood affected areas. The Chief Minister gave clear instructions that immediate relief materials should be delivered to the affected families and no delay in shifting them to safe places.”

75 people disappearance reported

House and government buildings, 3 temples, 4 severe damaged
Officials said that the dead include two Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel and a special police officer (SPO) of local police. The disaster came to Chashoti, the last village of Machail Mata temple on August 14 at around 12:25 pm. A temporary market in the disaster, a langar (community kitchen) site for travel and destroyed a security post. At least 16 residential houses and government buildings, three temples, four pancreas, a 30 meter long bridge and more than a dozen vehicles were also damaged in the sudden floods.
