Rain havoc in Mumbai: Two killed in landslide, red alert in many areas

Life life has been disturbed due to heavy rains in Mumbai. Transport has come to a standstill due to waterlogging and people are facing a lot of difficulty in movement. The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert in several districts of Maharashtra. These include Mumbai, Palghar, Thane, Raigad and Ratnagiri districts. Orange alert has been issued in Nashik, Pune, Satara, Jalgaon and Gadchiroli.

According to reports, there has been waterlogging in many major places including Kurla, Andheri Sabway, Chembur, Milan Sabway, Gandhi Market and Kings Circle in Mumbai. The movement of vehicles in Gandhi Market area is facing difficulty. BMC has informed that the Meteorological Department has issued a red alert in the city. In such a situation, it should be avoided until it is necessary.

According to the Meteorological Department, there may be an increase in rain in Palghar from Sunday. Due to the low pressure area on the Bay of Bengal, there is a possibility of heavy rains in this area. Yellow alert has also been issued in Kolhapur, Amravati, Wardha and Nagpur. The Meteorological Department says that Marathwada may receive moderate rains on Saturday. Apart from this, medium rains may occur in Central Maharashtra, Konkan Goa and North Maharashtra.

Two killed due to landslide
At least two people have died and two people are injured due to landslides in Mumbai’s public welfare society. On August 16, heavy rains received heavy rain at night. According to the Meteorological Department, Vikhroli and Ghatkopar recorded 207 mm of rainfall.
