Under the National Education Policy-2020, the Balawatika in the government schools of Uttar Pradesh has now become a colorful world of learning and playing for the little ones. To empower the ‘school radioness’ of 3 to 6 years of age, the Department of Basic Education is starting new childlikes in 5,118 schools across the state. Under this, the nearby Anganwadi centers have been transferred to these schools in collaboration with the Ministry of Women and Child Development (ICDS) department and are equipped with modern facilities.

Basic Education Minister Sandeep Singh says that through the National Education Policy-2020, we are laying a strong foundation for the future of the little ones. Nutrition, safe environment and enjoyable learning is our priority, so that every child can be fully prepared mentally and socially before entering class-1.
These are facilities
These buckets have made attractive arrangements for children like Balmatric furniture, outdoor sports materials, colorful classrooms, learning corners and Bala features. Also, practice booklets, Wonder Boxes, Teaching Committee (TLM) and stationery have been made available for activity-based teaching. The deployment of ecce educators is being ensured in a phased manner, so that each child can get quality, inclusive and enjoyable learning experience.
Colorful organizing in Balawatika on Independence Day
On the occasion of Independence Day 2025, grand programs will be organized in these Balawatis. Competitions like singing, dance, drama, painting will be organized with cleanliness, dyeing-painting and attractive decoration of the school premises. During this period, local public representatives, community, especially mothers and parents have been invited to further strengthen community participation in children’s education.

In this regard, Director General School Education, Mrs. Kanchan Verma says that the age of 3 to 6 years is very important for mental, emotional and social development of children. On completion of this phase of ‘school radione’, the child is fully ready to study at the time of admission in class-1. Nutrition, safe environment and enjoyable learning is our priority. The National Education Policy-2020 has given special importance to pre-primary education/Balwatika, according to which this initiative is being taken.
