Big announcement before Independence Day: Bravery and Service Medal to 1090 personnel

On Independence Day 2025, the personnel who have excelled in the country’s heroes and service will be honored. The Ministry of Home Affairs has announced the grant of bravery and service medals to 1,090 police, fire, home guards, civil defense and reform service personnel. This honor will be received to those who have introduced bravery and dedication in the service of the country.

According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, a total of 233 personnel will be awarded bravery medals. It is also called the Medal of Gallantry (GM). These include 226 police, six fire fighting and one home guard and civil defense personnel. Bravery medals are given to those who have shown extraordinary courage in saving life and property, preventing crime or catching criminals. This year’s award winners include 152 Jammu and Kashmir, 54 leftist extremism affected areas, three northeastern and 24 other regions.

Special service medal
A total of 99 President Special Service Medal i.e. President Medal for Discasing Service (PSM) will be given. This honor is given to personnel with special excellent records in service. These include 89 police, five fire fighting, three civil defense and home guards and two reform service personnel. These personnel have done their duties with loyalty and professional excellence.

Commendable service medal
758 personnel will be awarded the commendable service medal i.e. the Medal for Meritorious Service (MSM). This medal is given for dedication and resources to duty. These include 635 police, 51 fire fighting, 41 civil defense and home guard and 31 reform service personnel. These officers and employees have contributed to the security and service of the country for years.

These security forces got special recognition
The personnel of security forces deployed in Jammu and Kashmir, Naxal-affected areas and other sensitive areas of the country have received special recognition this year. Serving in these areas is extremely risky, as there are often terrorist attacks, militant activities and security challenges.
