Increased monitoring in 32 villages of Yamuna, Ghaziabad on danger mark in Delhi

Attention The water level of Yamuna river in Delhi has again reached close to the danger mark, due to which the administration has become completely alert. The danger of flooding along the banks of Yamuna and Hindon River in Ghaziabad is increasing, so the district administration has started monitoring about 32 villages along the banks of these rivers. Along with this, those who build illegal buildings in the submergence area have also been warned. According to the administration, the water level near the old iron bridge on Sunday recorded 204.05 meters, which is slightly less than the warning level 2024.50 meters, while the danger mark is still below 205.33 meters. In view of this situation, the administration has already decided to take precautions.

The Hindon River meets Gaziabad to Yamuna in Gautam Budh Nagar, while the Yamuna river enters Delhi from Loni area and moves towards Mathura via Gautam Budh Nagar. There are about 32 villages along the banks of Yamuna and Hindon in Ghaziabad. The risk of floods increases when the water level of rivers increases, and due to heavy rains on the mountains, the water level of Yamuna has reached close to the danger mark. The water level of Yamuna was recorded at 209.00 meters on Sunday, which was 209.50 meters ago. There is a possibility of further increase in water level in the next two to three days due to continuous release of water from Hathni Kund, so the embankments of these rivers are being monitored.

Recently, the water level in Hindon River has increased rapidly to 1900 cusecs, while it was only 660 cusecs a few days ago. Due to this increase, there has been a danger in the submergence area. Two years ago, when the water level in Hindon was more than 2000 cusecs, there was flood, causing waterlogging in many areas and the city forest was completely submerged. Now once again, the possibility of flood -like situation has increased due to increasing water in Hindon.

The irrigation department has warned the illegal constructions in the submergence area. The department has clarified that any kind of activity or encroachment in the submergence area near these villages should be removed immediately. Apart from this, after the warnings of the irrigation department, the administration has also clarified that if there is loss of public dhan in this area, then the person concerned will be responsible for it themselves.

Water enters the residential area along the Hindon
Prince Varna, Executive Engineer of the irrigation department, informed that during the rainy season, the water of Hindon river enters the residential areas for several kilometers. To prevent this, embankments have been built on the banks of the river and a boundary of floods has been set, called the submergence area. No encroachment or permanent construction is allowed in this region, yet gradually encroachment is increasing here. A warning has been issued regarding the possibility of flooding in the submergence area of Yamuna and Hindon, and the situation has become even more serious due to illegal encroachment.

Administration is monitoring the water level
The administration is constantly monitoring the rising water level of Yamuna. Officials say that relief and rescue operations will be started immediately if required. He informed that the warning of 204.5 meters in Yamuna, danger at 205.3 meters and withdrawal process starts at 206 meters. At this stage, residents of affected areas are transferred to safe places.

According to the central flood room, the main reason for the increase in water level is a large amount of water flow from Wazirabad and Hathinikund every hour. Apart from this, the rains in the upper catchment areas of Haryana and Uttarakhand are also continuously increasing the water level. According to the information, about 30,800 cusecs from Wazirabad barrage and about 25,000 cusecs of water from Hathinikund barrage are being released, which has increased the possibility of reaching the level of warning in Delhi.
