A total of 144 operational Vande India trains in India, expanded rail network

Indian Railways is constantly adding high -speed modern trains to its network and due to this, the number of operational Vande India trains in the country has increased to 144.
In response to a question in the Rajya Sabha, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that the government’s focus is on modernizing the rail infrastructure of the country. Vande Bharat Semi Semi is high-speed trains which have been designed and developed by Indian Railways to provide passengers fast, safe and more comfortable travel experiences.
These trains have faster acceleration, armor system, fully sealed gangway, automatic door and comfortable seats. The facilities available in the train include mini pantry, bottle coolers, deep freezer and hot water boilers with hot case.
Passengers also get the facility of reclining ergonomic seats, seats roaming in executive class, mobile charging socket on every seat, special toilets for disabled travelers and CCTV monitoring for better security.
The Railway Minister said that the purpose of these services is to reduce congestion on high demand routes, keeping the journey safe and economical. He further said that these trains are becoming increasingly popular among passengers. In 2024–25, around 3 crore passengers used Vande Bharat Express, while 93 lakh people traveled by this train between April and June 2025.
The rapid expansion of Vande Bharat Services is an important step towards changing the passenger journey in India, which provides a combination of speed, comfort and security on some of the country’s most busy rail routes. Additionally, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday inaugurated the Vande Bharat Train Service between Bangalore and Belagavi in Karnataka. He rode in the train and interacted with students and children during the journey.
The Prime Minister greeted the employees before flagging the Vande Bharat train at the railway station. He also launched two other Vande Bharat routes, including the new Vande Bharat between Amritsar – Sri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra, and Vande Bharat between Nagpur (Ajni) and Pune.
