Uttarkashi
There are many places which became known in the country and the world by joining a film. Bollywood’s immortal Shilpi and well -known filmmaker Raj Kapoor’s film ‘Ram Teri Ganga Maili’ (1985) also brought a well -known tourist destination of Uttarakhand to Harshil. Snow -covered peaks, innocent smile of the film’s heroine Mandakini on the banks of the Bhagirathi river, Raj Kapoor’s camera in the shade of apple gardens, the eyes of the heroine rested at the post office waiting for letters…, all these scenes of the film brought Harshil into discussion in the whole country.

In the film, actress Mandakini played Ganga and actor Rajiv Kapoor played Naren. The film also brought alive Garhwal’s lifestyle, traditional dress, jewelery etc. At that time, Harshil Valley became a symbol of love, purity, simplicity and cinematic beauty. The disaster of Dharli has spread desertion in these beautiful plains of Harshil. Today, the movement of relief parties in Harshil and the thunder of helicopters are echoing. The color of apple garden is buried under the rubble. Kheerganga in Dharali and Tanandav of Telganga in Harshil have shocked the beautiful and calm litigants here.

The film Ram Teri Ganga Maili’s superhit song ‘Husn Pahad Ka…’ was very popular then. Sometimes this song used to echo in marriage and other celebrations here. Through this song, the audience across the country saw Harshil’s picturesque litigants on screen for the first time. The song was filmed in a white sari on the heroine under the famous Mandakini waterfall towards Gangotri, one kilometer ahead of Dharali. There has been no such boom in this waterfall, but today there are sobs of floods around there. There is silence in the rubble everywhere. Four days ago, the destruction of Kheerganga in Dharali and Telganga in Harshil has changed a lot in Harshil. The town of Dharali, situated between the apple gardens, almost disappeared from the map.

Harshil village and market is safe
The disaster of the previous days has shocked Harshil badly, but the places filmed in Ram Teri Ganga Maili are still safe. The famous post office, where the film’s heroine Ganga (Mandakini) sends a letter to Naren and waited for her letter, is safe in the disaster. Harshil village and its main market are also completely safe. On the day of the disaster, control has been found to an extent on the threat caused by the formation of a lake near Harshil helipad. The water level of the lake is decreasing and the flow of the Bhagirathi river at this place is in the direction of normal.
