Mahadevi Hathini dispute: Supreme Court will go to Maharashtra government, Fadnavis supported Nandani Math

The state government has joined the state government to bring back Madhuri alias Mahadevi elephant in Kolhapur district of Maharashtra. The state government will turn to the Supreme Court in this matter. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that the government is with the monastery in this matter and will file a review petition to bring it back.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday clarified that the state government is with the monastery in this matter and the government will also file a separate review petition and put its position in the Supreme Court.
A meeting was held on the issue of Madhuri Hathini in the cabinet hall of the ministry under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister. During this, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, Forest Minister Ganesh Naik, Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil, Water Resources Minister Girish Mahajan, Medical Education Minister Hassan Musrif, Public Health Minister Prakash Abitkar, Representative of Nandani Math and public representative were present.
Chief Minister Fadnavis said that keeping in mind the traditions of Nandani Math and the feelings of the local people, an attempt will be made to bring back the Madhuri Hathini through the legal process. Madhuri has been in the monastery for the last 34 years and the public wants him to come back. For this, the state government will file a review petition and the monastery should also include the government in its petition. A detailed side will be placed in the Supreme Court by the Forest Department.
He said that the suggestions of the high-level committee and the Central Zoo Authority will be implemented in it. A team including doctors will be formed and necessary assistance will be given to take care of the elephant. Arrangements like rescue center will also be made if needed. The government will also request to set up an independent committee in this petition.
The Chief Minister also said that cases registered against citizens in this case will be withdrawn. At the same time, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar said that the forest department should gather information about all the elephants taken out of Maharashtra. The public representatives present on the occasion expressed their opinion and said that the state government should take initiative to bring back Madhuri Hathini keeping in mind the sentiments of the citizens.
