Yes, on July 15, Alan Musk’s company Tesla announced its first showroom and experience at the Bandra-Kurla Complex in Mumbai, along with the opening of its first car Tesla model Y in the Indian market. Tesla model Y has been kept at the initial ex -showroom price of Rs 60 lakh in India, which is from the rear wheel drive variant. Two variants of Tesla Model Y
Tesla will sell two models in India. The first model is Model Y rear-wheel drive (RWD), priced at Rs 60 lakhs. The second model is Model Y long range RWD, which costs Rs 68 lakh. The company has given information about prices on its website. Its price in India is much higher than America. Actually, Tesla’s cars will get more expensive in India than in America, Europe and China due to import duty as well as other expenses. The initial price of Model Y in the US is around Rs 38.63 lakh. At the same time, it is available in China for about Rs 31.57 lakh and about Rs 46.09 lakh in Germany.
Car becomes expensive due to import duty
Let us tell you that Model Y has come to Mumbai from Tesla’s Shanghai plant. These trains have an import duty of more than 21 lakh per unit. In fact, in India, 70 percent tax is levied on a fully made vehicles priced less than $ 40,000. Tesla has come to India at a time when it is getting a tough competition from popular Chinese EV companies like BYD. BYD cars will also give a tough competition to Tesla in India.

Tesla Model Y Rwd – ₹ 59.89 Lakh
Tesla Model Y Long Range RWD – ₹ 67.89 Lakh
Tesla’s first showroom has started in Mumbai. The next showroom is expected to open in New Delhi soon. The sale of Model Y will be started in Mumbai, Delhi and Gurugram. Its delivery will begin from the third quarter of the calendar year of 2025.
How much is the range of both cars
The range of RWD version of Tesla Model Y is 500 km on full charge once, while the range of Long Range RWD version is better than this, which is described as 622 km. This range is described according to WLTC (Worldwide Hermonized Light Vehicle Test Cycle).
Talking about the performance, the model Y rwd version can catch the speed of 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds. At the same time, Long Range RWD version achieves this speed in 5.6 seconds. The top speed of both versions is 201 km/h.
Experience center will open soon in Delhi
The most important thing here is that Tesla has also opened its showroom in Mumbai. Actually, Allen Musk showed interest in the Indian EV market about two years ago. Tesla rented a place in BKC in Mumbai in March. Since then, the company recruited here. Soon Tesla’s experience center will open in Delhi too.
