New Delhi
Animal rights activist and former Union Minister Maneka Gandhi, who criticized the Supreme Court order over stray dogs in Delhi NCR, described it as an angry decision. He said that the government does not have a place to keep so many dogs. Maneka Gandhi pointed out the lack of facilities to implement such an order. He insisted that the government needs at least 3000 shelter homes and more than 1.5 lakh cleaning workers to shift dogs.
Maneka Gandhi Nedilli does not have a single government shelter home. How many shelters will you keep 3 lakh dogs? You do not have a single one. To make these shelters, you will have to spend at least 15 thousand crores. You have to find 3000 shelters in places where no one lives. How will you find so many places? This cannot happen in two months. You will only have to appoint 1.5 lakh people as sanitation workers, which will also cost crores of rupees.
He said, this is not an order to do any work. This is a very strange decision given by an angry person. Angry decisions are never intelligent. The Mayor says that he can do this in six weeks; Let them try. There is not a single shelter home where they can keep dogs? The Mayor of Delhi has assured that the government can arrange temporary or permanent shelters. He said, we do not have a shelter home, but we have 10 current sterilization centers. We can build a temporary and permanent shelter home. The MCD and the Delhi government will ensure that no one has any problem due to stray dogs.
