Goa CM Confirms Arrests Following Nightclub Blaze
Chief Minister of Goa, Pramod Sawant, has announced the arrest of the general manager of a nightclub following a devastating fire that broke out on Sunday. The establishment, known as ‘The Birch by Romeo Lane,’ has also seen an arrest warrant issued against its owner.
Fatal Incident Leaves 25 Dead Due to Smoke Inhalation
CM Sawant confirmed that this tragic incident occurred around midnight. He stated, ‘Many individuals were unable to escape the nightclub due to the fire, leading to fatalities from smoke inhalation.’ The incident has resulted in the deaths of 25 people, with six others reported injured. Fortunately, the injured individuals are currently out of danger and receiving treatment at Goa Medical College.
Magistrate Inquiry Ordered into the Incident
To assess the situation, Sawant visited the site around 2 AM. He has ordered a magistrate inquiry into the incident, describing it as an unprecedented event in Goa’s history.
Investigation into Safety Regulation Violations
When questioned about whether the fire was a result of negligence, the Chief Minister confirmed that an investigation has been initiated. The inquiry will determine if the nightclub adhered to fire safety regulations.
